Before you apply: what to have ready

Coming in prepared saves time and avoids surprises. Here's what programs usually look at, and what you can start organizing now.

What they look at

How long the business has been open, about how much it brings in per year, your credit score, and what the money is for. Under Lexington's general guidelines, each program has its own requirements: for example, some ask for 2 years in business and others accept newer businesses, and some can use a co-signer's credit.

If you're using more than 25% of your credit card limits, it's worth paying them down first. It's one of the first things they look at.

The paperwork to have ready

Your last 4 months of business bank statements (for most programs), an invoice for the equipment if you're financing equipment, your business tax returns for SBA loans, and basic business details.

Every program needs a three-bureau credit report. Kevin will explain how to get one.

How to send your documents

Never by text message or as an email attachment. When it's time, Kevin sends you a private link to upload them.

The truth: a "no" today isn't a "no" forever. If you don't qualify yet, Kevin will tell you what could help next time.
